South Africa

In South Africa, GEMS partners with Sharing To Learn, a non-profit organization that helps to create learning experiences and cultural exchanges for communities around the globe, while sharing ideas and resources with one another.

The Makuleke Community, located in the northern most tip of South Africa, is comprised of three villages: Makuleke, Boxahuku and Makahlule.  Challenged by the struggles inherent to poverty, the people of the Makuleke rely on innovation and creativity to move forward.

GEMS students work with the children of the Makuleke Village and the local school. Through global education, Sharing to Learn and GEMS creates a forum for children around the world to be part of the solution to poverty.
