Good afternoon, GEMS!
We hope you had a wonderful extra-long weekend. Here is our update for the week of 1/15/2024
Time-Sensitive News
• A huge “Thank you” to Mari Carchrie-Leigh for presenting GEMS highlights to the Board of
Education last week. She did a fantastic job and represented GEMS extremely well!
• We have had an amazing start to Winter Sports! Check out the photos from skiing,
Indoor Soccer and Flag Football here. In addition, students engaged in esports at the
school. If you are participating, please be sure to bring extra water and snacks.
Attendance
• Please emphasize strong attendance with your student(s). Our chronic absenteeism rate
dropped from October to the December and it is now at 91%, which is below the state
and district goal of 95%. It is essential that our children are in school for academic,
social, and emotional growth. If there are barriers, please reach out. If your student must
be out, be sure to call us (860-769-6600) to report the absence.
