Starting tomorrow students in grades 7 and 8 will begin the State of CT's annual testing called Smarter Balanced Assessments. Students will be taking assessments for both math and ela this week. If a student is absent or arrives late, they will make up their assessments upon return. We ask that students arrive on time with charged chromebooks ready for testing. We appreciate your support in helping your child to be prepared each day by getting a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast ready to do their best.
Student belongings such as phones, smartwatches, backpacks, etc will not be allowed in test rooms. Students must leave all belongings in their lockers for the duration of testing. Disruptions may result in the removal from the testing environment and may have impact on your student's testing results. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

GEMS will be having a Pajama Day fundraiser TOMORROW, December 12th for Connecticut Children's Hospital! Donations of $1 or more will be accepted up until tomorrow morning. Donating students will receive a wristband allowing them to wear pajamas to school.
NOTE: If pajamas are deemed inappropriate by administration, the student will be asked to change. If the student does not have an alternate outfit, they may be held in the office until a parent provides a suitable change of clothing.
¡GEMS tendrá un día de pijamas como recaudación de fondos MAÑANA, 12 de diciembre, para el Connecticut Children's Hospital! Se aceptarán donaciones de $1 o más hasta mañana por la mañana. Los estudiantes que donen recibirán una pulsera que les permitirá usar pijamas en la escuela.
NOTA: Si la administración considera que los pijamas son inapropiados, se le pedirá al estudiante que se cambie. Si el estudiante no tiene un cambio de ropa adecuado, podrá permanecer en la oficina hasta que un padre o tutor proporcione una vestimenta apropiada.
Any juniors or seniors who are interested in our Travel Trip to Puerto Rico this spring must be registered by this Friday December 12th. At this time we will finalize our list of students attending. Students must be in good academic and attendance standing to participate in field trips. If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Colon.
